LOTUS NOTES INTEGRATOR

LOTUS NOTES INTEGRATOR  for DOCUMENTUM 5

Overview

Lotus Notes Integrator is a Lotus Notes “Actions” menu add-in that provides a simple, scaleable method of migrating Lotus Notes databases to Content Management Systems.

LNI automates the export, document conversion to MS-RTF, and the Check-in process to Content Server. The check-in process automatically uploads attachments, and maintains external references, links, and important metadata.

How does LNI work?

LNI has two modes of operation :

Manual : Databases can be migrated either individually or in batches.
In single mode operation individual notes can be selectively migrated, or an entire View of notes can be migrated. In batch mode an entire repository of databases can be migrated in a single pass.

Automatic : Automates the check-in of documents to Content Server. LNI “watches” a set of pre-defined databases for additions to those databases, and selects new documents based on the date and time they were added to the databases. This process can be set to run on an interval between 60secs and 24hrs.

LNI cannot run in both modes simultaneously.

What types of database can be migrated?

LNI handles document library databases, e-mail databases, discussion databases etc.

What about metadata?

LNI enables the text value of any Notes field to be preserved as metadata. There is a GUI that provides the mapping function between fields in a Form and the metadata fields in Content Server. Fields are type-checked as they are mapped to prevent mapping, say, a date field to a numeric metadata field.

What sort of throughput can I expect?

On a minimum system (750mhz PIII, 256mbs RAM) around 1500 - 2000 per hour. This may vary up or down depending on the size of each document and its content. Text based documents will be processed faster than documents comprised of complex tables, embedded objects and graphics etc.

How does LNI impact on users and Notes servers?

LNI runs on a Notes client as part of your Notes network. No new processes or applications are required on users desktops. No new processes or applications run on any Notes server.

What about security?

Because LNI runs as part of Notes, the Notes security model is maintained. LNI accesses databases based on the login ID for the workstation running LNI. LNI also honours the security model of the Content Server.

LNI Features

  • Export of single or multiple notes from the View - or the entire View

 LOTUS NOTES INTEGRATOR v4.0.2

Overview

The purpose of the evaluation product is to demonstrate how documents can be exported, ready for upload to a web based Document Management or Content Management system. The Server Setup, Metadata Map and Link Resolution features require information to be manually provided to LNI, that would be determined by software if LNI was integrated with the target system.

Currently LNI is fully integrated only with the Stellent Content Management system. To use this “vanilla” version of LNI requires that you provide your own upload code based on the information provided.

Lotus Notes Integrator (LNI) is a Lotus Notes “Actions” menu add-in that provides a simple, scaleable method of migrating Lotus Notes databases to Document Management and Content Management systems.

Provides integration with and migration from Lotus Notes via a “vanilla” export, to RTF with user specified metadata, attachments and fully resolved doclinks, ready for import to Document Management and Content Management systems.

·         Migrate Lotus Notes doclibrary, discussion, e-mail etc database contents.

·         Migrate a selection of documents, Views, or batches of databases.

·         Manual, batch and automatic modes of operation.
